Algerian security forces searched a West Algiers district June 25 to track down an Islamist militant stronghold, days after suspected militants failed in an apparent attempt to blow up a domestic natural gas pipeline southeast of Algiers. Though Algeria's security apparatus is well equipped to contain the growing jihadist threat in the country, the renewed militant focus on Algeria's prized energy sector is a worrying sign for the Algerian government and its energy clients.
