Summary

No matter who is elected to succeed deceased Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on April 14, he will have only a few options in writing the country's new domestic policy. The bulk of the political system established under the Chavez administration will need to remain in place for the winner to have the support of dependent social sectors. His challenge will be figuring out how to continue to fund that system.
