The United Kingdom's election results are in and, unlike the thumping Conservative majority British Prime Minister Theresa May was expecting when she called them, a hung parliament has resulted. The pound dropped 2 percent against the dollar as the markets priced in a period of weak and unstable government ahead, possibly followed by more elections. May moved quickly on Friday to strike a deal with the Northern Irish Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) which barely gets her over the threshold to a majority. The details of the agreement are yet to be hammered out, but given the tight margins, this new government will be in danger of losing power in every by-election, and will be liable to be held hostage by every rebellious member of parliament who does not wish to toe the party line....
