Jordan: Attack Targets U.S. Navy Ships
Aug 19, 2005 | 17:11 GMT
Summary
Three rockets were fired Aug. 19 at two U.S. Navy ships docked in the Jordanian port of Aqaba, but missed their targets — and one landed on Israeli soil. This quite likely is the work of transnational jihadist elements tied to al Qaeda leader in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, an ethnic Jordanian. This incident shows that Jordan might be developing into another theater for anti-American militant attacks, with regional implications.
