Summary
Jordanian authorities released Abu-Muhammad Asem al-Maqdisi, the world’s leading jihadist theoretician, March 12. Al-Maqdisi might be prepared to help Jordanian authorities confront the coming jihadist exodus from Iraq. But while he might have become opposed to the use of violence against noncombatants, his overall radical Islamist agenda will limit his utility to Amman.
