Pakistan: The Results of the Peshawar Attack

Summary

The death toll in the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan, on April 5 reportedly reached nine, including the attackers and three local security employees. The attack was one of the more aggressive militant acts in Pakistan in some time and involved the expenditure of a great deal of resources in an apparent attempt to take U.S. Consulate employees hostage. Despite the limited amount of damage it caused, it still succeeded in forcing the U.S. consulate to relocate its staff outside of Peshawar.

While the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Peshawar did not cause a level of damage congruent with the amount of resources used, it was nevertheless likely a success for the Pakistani Taliban....
