Qatar: Clearing the Air Over the GCC

Though the spat between Qatar and three other countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has been simmering quietly for months, it is no closer to being resolved. Recent claims of airplane antagonism show that the conflict endures. On Jan. 12, Qatar announced it had filed a complaint with the United Nations Security Council alleging that a military aircraft had violated its airspace for approximately one minute Dec. 21. Then, on Jan. 15, the Emirati government claimed that two of the country's commercial flights had been intercepted by a Qatari fighter jet on its way to Bahrain....
