The results of the Democratic Republic of the Congo's presidential election have gotten no less controversial after the country's constitutional court affirmed opposition candidate Felix Tshisekedi's alleged victory on Jan. 20. A competing opposition candidate, Martin Fayulu, has claimed that the election's results were falsified after outgoing President Joseph Kabila struck a backroom deal with Tshisekedi. Many Western countries -- most prominently France and Belgium -- have backed Fayulu's concerns about the election's validity and are pushing for a recount.
