Russia, Europe: Northern European Pipeline a Go

The Northern European gas pipeline's appeal to European countries' interests — primarily the quest for energy security — means the pipeline project will progress. The pipeline likely will take Russian natural gas not only to Germany, as originally intended, but also to several other Western European nations, meaning that more European energy majors probably will join the pipeline consortium. Even Eastern Europeans — who feel Western Europeans did not heed their politically motivated objections to the pipeline — are abandoning their opposition and now want to be a part of it.
