Yukos CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky appears to have set his sights on succeeding Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2008. Khodorkovsky certainly has the financial foundation to launch a presidential campaign — although it is too early to accurately assess his prospects — and his pro-Western views likely will make him a popular choice both in Washington and in the pro-U.S. camp in Moscow.
