The Shooting of Taiwan's President: An Inconclusive Conclusion
Mar 7, 2005 | 21:21 GMT
Summary
Taiwanese police have identified the gunman who shot President Chen Shui-bian and Vice President Annette Lu in March 2004, but say the alleged attacker drowned nine days after the shooting and that another suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound a few months later, according to March 7 reports. The findings will do little to quell suspicions that Chen staged the incident just days before the presidential election, which he narrowly won.
