Pakistan's recently appointed prime minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, is making his first visit to the United States at a time when relations between Washington and Islamabad have hit the rocks. Abbasi arrived in the country on Sept. 18 to attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting. On Aug. 21, U.S. President Donald Trump gave a speech in which he accused Pakistan of supporting terrorism and asked for greater Indian involvement in the war in Afghanistan.
