Summary

Recent international and U.S. domestic energy developments are adding momentum to calls for restrictions on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which widely are blamed for contributing to climate change. While the United Nations and European Union are issuing proclamations consistent with each body's traditional position on the issue, dramatic corporate and governmental developments in the United States are likely to lead to passage of some type of GHG-regulating legislation in the U.S. Congress within the next several years.
