Sim Tack is a senior analyst at Stratfor, tracking and analyzing military developments on both a tactical and strategic level across regions globally. As part of this, he has worked on projects relating to global arms procurement, development of the Russian military, as well as building tactical insight in specific conflicts such as the war in Eastern Ukraine, Israeli operations in Gaza, coalition operations against the Islamic state and Libya's civil war.
He also has a separate regional focus on Africa, where he analyzes militant movements and conflicts in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as identifying critical geopolitical dynamics throughout the continent. He has worked on projects that include such topics as conflict in Somalia, piracy, French military involvement in Africa and infrastructure development, as well as general political stability throughout Africa.
Prior to joining Stratfor, Mr. Tack worked as subject matter expert on Somalia and wrote on broader geopolitical themes on a global scale. Mr. Tack obtained a master’s, with distinction, in security and intelligence studies after obtaining an undergraduate degree in international relations from the London School of Economics.
