Canada: Liberal Party Projected to Secure a Plurality
With final votes still being tallied from the Oct. 21 general election, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Liberal Party are projected to walk away with the most seats in Parliament --157 -- but fall short of a majority, CBC reported Oct. 22. Although the Conservative Party will likely win the popular vote, its seat count is expected to be just 121.

Philip Leech-Ngo is a senior fellow at the University of Ottawa's Centre on Governance. He was the Gordon F. Henderson Postdoctoral Fellow at the Human Rights Research and Education Centre, University of Ottawa.
