Afghanistan: President To Ban National Forces From Requesting Airstrikes

Afghan President Hamid Karzai will issue a decree Feb. 17 banning Afghan security forces from requesting the U.S.-led International Security Assistance Force to carry out operations or airstrikes in Afghanistan, Karzai said Feb. 16, AP reported. Afghan National Security Forces have been going through phased territorial handovers over the past two years and are now responsible for territories that contain 75 percent of Afghanistan's population.
