Egypt: Clashes Reported Near Presidential Palace

Police fired tear gas and water cannons at protesters outside the presidential palace in Cairo, Al-Ahram reported Feb. 1. Skirmishes near the palace have caused some protesters to leave the area, and witnesses reported that the demonstrations were neither as large nor violent as protests in the previous week. Protesters told Al-Ahram that lower turnout was due to the lack of organization. The Egyptian military reportedly met with opposition leaders in recent days to warn them against threatening the stability of the government....
