Iran: Canada Closes Embassy In Tehran

Canada closed its embassy in Tehran on Sept. 7 and vowed to expel Iranian diplomats from Canada, AFP reported. Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird criticized Iran's support for the Syrian regime and its threats against Israel. Diplomatic relations between Iran and Canada are suspended, Baird said, adding that Canada views Iran's government as the most significant threat to global security. International pressure continues to build on Syria, and Tehran must recalculate its regional ambitions to prepare for the possible loss of its Syrian ally.
