Libya: All Oil Fields Controlled By Eastern Government, Minister Says

All of Libya’s oil fields are under the full control and protection of forces loyal to the internationally recognized government based in eastern Libya, the government's information minister, Omar Qweri, said July 27, Sputnik Arabic reported. Crude deliveries remain insufficient, Qweri said. Oil fields have been a key target for both of the two rival governments claiming authority over Libya, with the Sidra field — one of the country’s largest — closing down in the face of repeated attacks over the past two years. Unity in Libya will require the competing governments to take on their own support bases before outside powers can help, if at all.
