Leaders of Macedonia’s four largest political parties reached an agreement in EU-mediated talks July 15 to resolve the country’s ongoing political crisis, Focus News reported, citing Telma TV. The agreement calls for early parliamentary elections on April 24, 2016. An interim government will take office three months before the vote, likely meaning the prime minister will resign in December. The opposition will also return to the parliament on Sept. 15. Macedonia's polarized political spectrum, corruption and history of ethnic conflict have contributed to government instability.
