Mali: Troops Take Control Of Bourem

French and Malian forces have taken control of Bourem, a town near the city of Gao, a French military official said Feb. 17, AP reported. According to the official, the operation was launched Feb. 16, and there are now roughly 1,000 troops in the town. Jihadist forces have staged two suicide attacks against a military checkpoint on the road leading from Bourem to Gao, shifting their tactics against intervention forces.
