Malta: Plane Hijackers Surrender, All Passengers Released

Two hijackers who forced a Libyan plane to land in Malta and threatened to blow it up with a hand grenade have released all passengers and surrendered themselves to authorities, Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said, CNN reported Dec. 23. The flight, originally scheduled to travel from Sabha to Tripoli, was diverted to Malta, where a tense standoff ensued. Malta's armed forces led the negotiations that ended with the two hijackers surrendering, Malta's Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
