Philippines: Suspected Militants Torch Quarry Firm Truck

Suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) torched a 10-wheeler used by a private firm in its quarrying operations in the Philippine province of Cayagan on April 21, ABS-CBN News reported April 22. The truck, owned by GCI Construction, was burned by suspected NPA militants in an attempt to stop quarry operations in Cayagan. Initial reports from police in the town of Santa Ana in Cayagan said that at around 4 p.m. local time, four GCI employees were at the quarry site in Santa Ana when about 15 armed men arrived. The perpetrators told the employees that they were burning the truck as an example to other quarry operators.
