Sudan: Opposition Plans Anti-Government Protests

The National Consensus Forces, an umbrella group of Sudan's main opposition parties, called June 8 for mass demonstrations to oust Sudanese President Omar al Bashir, Reuters reported. The opposition group said al Bashir's government is quickly losing support and the president could be out of power within three months. The group has a 100-day plan for the peaceful overthrow of the government, a spokesman for the opposition said, AFP reported. Economic and security problems stemming from the country's oil dispute with South Sudan have decreased al Bashir's popularity.
