U.S.: RT To Register As Foreign Agent in Washington, Editor Says

The U.S. branch of Russia's state-owned RT television channel agreed to comply with the U.S. Department of Justice's requirement to register as a foreign agent, The New York Times reported Nov. 9. RT's chief editor, Margarita Simonyan, said the requirement violates democracy and freedom of speech and RT will challenge it in court. On Oct. 26, Twitter blocked RT and Sputnik advertisements because of their state-sponsored efforts to interfere in the 2016 U.S. presidential election
