Yemen: Houthis Attack Saudi Base Ahead Of Cease-Fire

Houthi rebels killed 42 mercenaries from Academi, better known as Blackwater, and two high ranking Gulf commanders in a ballistic missile attack in the Bab el-Mandeb region, PressTV reported Dec. 14. The attack on the Saudi military headquarters in Taiz also killed 23 soldiers from Saudi Arabia, nine from the United Arab Emirates and seven from Morocco. Saudi Arabia mobilized counter-insurgency units on its border with Yemen after the death of a special forces commander, Saudi Col. Abdullah al-Sahian, AFP reported Dec. 14. U.N.-led peace talks between the Houthis and the coalition that supports the government of President Abd Rabboh Mansour Hadi are set to begin Dec. 15.
