Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how information about you is collected, used and disclosed by RANE Network Inc. (“RANE”), in the delivery of its suite of products and websites which are accessible at *.ranenetwork.com and *.stratfor.com. RANE is committed to protecting personal information and complying with all applicable privacy requirements in a trustworthy, transparent and responsible manner. This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect when you use our websites, mobile applications, and other products and services (collectively, the “Services”) or when you otherwise interact with us.

We may make content or services from other Web sites, including our affiliated or cobranded Web sites, available to you from links located on the Services. These other Web sites are not subject to this Privacy Policy. We recommend that you review the privacy policy at each such Web site to determine how that site protects your privacy. RANE has no control over these Web sites and is not responsible or liable for the policies and practices followed by these other Web sites. The personal information you choose to provide to or that is collected by these other Web sites is not covered by this Privacy Policy.

Information RANE Collects
We want you to understand the types of information we collect as you use our services.

Information You Provide to Us
We collect information when you provide it directly to us. For example, we collect information when you:

Create an account; subscribe to our Services; provide information or promote your services as an “expert” through our expert network (the “Expert Services”); participate in any interactive areas or features of the Services; subscribe to a newsletter or email list; access or download content through the Services; communicate with experts or other users through the Services; interact with us via third-party social media sites; register for an event organized by us; complete a survey; fill out a form; request customer support; or otherwise communicate with us regarding our Services, or for the purposes of project-related work or otherwise.

The types of information we may collect include:

  • Account Information, such as your name, email address, username, password, postal address, phone number, company name and contact details, job title, work experience, photographs and any other information you choose to provide;

  • Payment Information, such as your credit card or other payment method. The credit card information you provide when you subscribe to the Services or renew your subscription is stored and used by our third-party credit card processors in order for them to process your subscription payments;

  • Project-Related Information, such as company, personnel, background, physical or cyber infrastructure, or financial information;

  • Surveys, such as occasional online surveys we may conduct. We collect information about your participation in and responses to these surveys. For example, when you're within our Web sites, you may see a pop-up window offering you the optional opportunity of participating in a survey. These surveys are entirely voluntary and you may decline to participate;

  • Social Media Features, such as the Facebook Like button, widgets such as a "Share This" button, interactive mini- programs that run on our Services, and other social media features,. These features may collect your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address and which page you are visiting on our Services, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our Services. Your interactions with these features and widgets are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing them;

  • Conferences and Other Events, such as video or telephonic conferences, webinars, or other live or recorded events that we may invite you to, or you may otherwise participate in We may share any information you provide when signing up for any such event with other sponsors of the event; and

  • Other Information You Choose to Provide, such as when you participate in the interactive areas or features of the Services or request technical or customer support. In some cases, we also may collect information you provide about others. For example, if you refer an individual to us to become an expert in our network, we may collect information such as the name, email address and other contact details of that individual. This may also include information that you provide to us through our use of third-party services, such as webinar platforms or promotional marketing partners.

Information We Collect Automatically When You Use RANE Services

When you access or use our Services, we automatically collect information about you, including:

  • Log Information: We log information about your use of the Services, including your IP address, web request, access times, pages viewed, content you upload, access or download, number of correspondences you send or receive, number of contacts you add to your address book, web browser, links clicked and the page you visited before navigating to the Services.

  • Device Information: We collect information about the device or computer you use to access our Services, including the hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers and mobile network information.

  • Location Information: We may collect information about the location of your device when you access or use our Services or otherwise consent to the collection of this information. For more details, please see “Location Information” below.

  • Information Collected by Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies: We and our service providers use various technologies, including cookies and web beacons, to collect information. Cookies are small data files stored on your device that help us to improve our Services and your experience, see which areas and features of our Services are popular, and count visits. Web beacons are electronic images that may be used in our Services or emails to help deliver cookies, count visits, and understand usage and campaign effectiveness. Information We Collect From Other Sources

We may also obtain information from other sources and combine that with information we collect through our Services. For example, if you apply to become an expert in our network, we will collect information about you from various third-party sources to verify your profile information, credentials and other information you provide. Also, we collect and may combine information from you in connection with project related work.

Use of Information

Depending on how you interact with us and our Services and your preferences, we may use your personal information for various purposes, including to:

  • Provide, maintain and improve our Services;

  • Activate and manage your access to and use of the Services;

  • Send you invitations or other correspondence related to becoming a subscriber to or an expert on the Services;

  • Provide and deliver the products and services you request, process transactions and send you related information;

  • Send you technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages to help keep the Services working, safely and securely;

  • Respond to your comments, questions and requests, and provide customer service;

  • Communicate with you about products, services, offers, promotions and events offered by RANE and others, and provide news and information we think will be of interest to you;

  • Enhance and improve services, and develop new products, services and benefits;

  • Notify you about changes, updates or other announcements related to our Services and our other products and services;

  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage and activities in connection with our Services;

  • Link or combine with information we get from others to help understand your needs and provide you with better service;

  • Carry out any other purpose for which the information was collected;

  • Identify usage trends and develop data analysis, including for purposes of research, audit, reporting and other business operations, including determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns and evaluating our business performance, or in other ways pursuant to a customer agreement; and/or

  • Comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

If you are an administrator of an organization with a subscription to the Services, we will use your details to communicate with you about your organization’s subscription and related services. If you supply us contact information of your colleagues who will use our Services, we may contact those individuals with communications about the Services that may include reference to you. By providing us with that information about your colleagues, you represent and warrant to us that you have authority to do so.

EU Users and Grounds for Processing Data

If you are visiting from the European Union, please note that by providing your personal information, you consent to any transfer of your personal information to the United States and processing of your personal information globally in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

When we collect any personal information within the scope of European data protection laws, we do so (a) with your consent; (b) where necessary to provide the Services, fulfill a transaction or otherwise perform a contract with you or at your request prior to entering into a contract; (c) where necessary for our compliance with a legal obligation; (d) where necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest; and/or (e) as necessary to fulfill our legitimate interests as described below, except where our interests are overridden by your privacy rights.

Our legitimate interests are: to deliver our products and services to our customers and their end users; to detect or prevent fraud; to protect the security of our systems, employees, customers and users; to further develop our products and services; to conduct direct marketing; to operate our business (including processing payments and invoices, conducting credit checks on customers, suppliers and leads, performing sales, customer and supplier management, and incidental processing in our back office foreach of these purposes); to enable our customers to comply with legal obligations; to provide customer service or support; and to otherwise fulfil our legitimate interests as described above.

Transfers of Your Information Abroad

RANE is based in the United States, and the information we collect is governed by U.S. law. By accessing or using the Services or otherwise providing information to us, you consent to the processing and transfer of information in and to the U.S. and other countries. Certain data may also be subject to the privacy laws of other jurisdictions.

Data protection laws vary among countries, with some providing more protection than others. Regardless of where your information is processed, we apply the same protections described in this Privacy Policy. Sharing of Information

RANE does not disclose or share your personal information with companies, organizations, or individuals outside of RANE except that we may share information about you as follows or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy:

  • With experts and other users in connection with your use of Expert Services, including when you use interactive areas or features of the Services or participate in an online conference or an event;

  • With vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work or perform services on our behalf;

  • In response to a request for information if we believe disclosure is in accordance with any applicable law, regulation or legal process, or as otherwise required by any applicable law, rule or regulation;

  • If we believe your actions are inconsistent with our user agreements or policies, or to protect the rights, property and safety of RANE or others;

  • In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of our business by another company; and

We also may share aggregated or de-identified information, which cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

Social Sharing Features

The Services may offer social sharing features and other integrated tools, which let you share actions you take on our Services with other media, and vice versa. Your use of such features enables the sharing of information with your friends or the public, depending on the settings you establish with the entity that provides the social sharing feature. Analytics Services Provided by Others

We may allow others to provide analytics services. These entities may use cookies, web beacons and other technologies to collect information about your use of the Services and other websites, including your IP address, web browser, pages viewed, time spent on pages, email usage, links clicked and conversion information. This information may be used by RANE and others to, among other things, analyze and track data, determine the popularity of certain content and better understand your online activity. Your Access to and Control Over Your Information

You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the information you submit to us, such as your user preferences and contact information provided as part of subscription registration or Expert Services. If your personal information changes, you may correct, delete inaccuracies, or amend information by making the change in your profile on-line, or by contacting us at the address or phone number noted below. We will make good faith efforts to make requested changes in our then active databases as soon as reasonably practicable.

If at any time you have a question about our records containing your personal information, we will do our best to answer it. At any time, you may choose to opt out of any future contacts from us. By contacting us via the email address or phone number below and given on our website, you may do the following:

  • See what personal information we have about you, if any;

  • Change or correct, or have us delete, any information we have about you;

  • Request that we cease or limit our processing of your personal information for marketing or otherwise;

  • Request a copy of your personal information that we have about you; or

  • Express any concern you have about our use of your personal information.

Please note, however, that we may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes. We may also retain cached or archived copies of information about you for a certain period of time.

Retention of Your Information

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services and fulfill the transactions you have requested, and for other essential purposes such as complying with our legal obligations, maintaining business and financial records, resolving disputes, maintaining security, detecting and preventing fraud and abuse, and enforcing our agreements.

Security of Your Information

RANE takes reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.

We work to protect you and RANE from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of information we hold, including by doing the following:

  • We use encryption to keep your data private while in transit;

  • We periodically review our information collection, storage, and processing practices, including physical security measures, to prevent unauthorized access to our systems;

  • We restrict access to personal information to employees, contractors, and agents who need that information in order to process it. Anyone with this access is subject to strict confidentiality obligations and may be disciplined or terminated if they fail to meet these obligations.


Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 or target the Services to children under thirteen years of age. By providing any personal information to us, you represent and warrant to us that you are at least thirteen years of age. If you are under the age of thirteen, we require that you do not provide any personal information to us. If you are the parent or guardian of a child under the age of thirteen and you believe we may have personal information regarding that child, please contact us at the address or phone number noted below so that we may delete that information from our systems.

Location Information

When you first launch any of our mobile applications that collect location information, you will be asked to consent to the application’s collection of this information. If you initially consent to our collection of location information, you can subsequently stop the collection of this information at any time by changing your preferences on your mobile device. If you do so, certain features of our mobile applications will no longer function. You also may stop our collection of this location information by following the standard uninstall process to remove all of our mobile applications from your device.

Additionally, when you use our Services, we automatically collect your Internet Protocol or “IP” Address, which may be combined with publicly available information and used to identify your regional location.

Promotional Communications

You may opt out of receiving promotional communications from RANE by following the instructions in those communications or by emailing us at privacy@RANEnetwork.com. If you opt out, we may still send you communications that you have not opted out of, such as non-promotional communications, including those about your account or our ongoing business relations.

Push Notifications/Alerts

With your consent, we may send SMS messages, push notifications, or alerts to your mobile device. You can deactivate these messages at any time by changing the notification settings on your mobile device.

Compliance & Cooperation with Regulators

We review our Privacy Policy regularly and make sure that we comply with it when we process your information.

Changes to this Policy

We change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy and, in some cases, we may provide you with additional notice. We encourage you to review our Privacy Policy whenever you access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed of our information practices and the ways you can help protect your privacy. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent. We indicate the date the last changes were published at the top of this Privacy Policy.
