Afghanistan: Karzai's De Facto Victory

Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah has boycotted a runoff election slated for Nov. 7, making incumbent President Hamid Karzai the de facto winner. The United States will now rebrand Karzai as a credible partner, but his "victory" has done little to hide the inconsistencies plaguing U.S. counterinsurgent efforts in Afghanistan.
