The identification of the suspected Boston Marathon bombers, brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, as ethnic Chechens has revived concerns in Russia that Islamist militancy and anti-Muslim sentiment could increase ahead of the 2014 Winter Olympics that Russia is hosting in Sochi and amid current political unrest. The Kremlin is trying to convince the rest of the world that it has the security situation in its restive Caucasus republics under control, even with the continued low-simmering tensions among Russia's regions and ethnic groups in the lead-up to the Olympics and across the country.
