Albanian Protests and Potential Regional Consequences

Summary

Several protesters calling for the government to step down have died in clashes with police in the Albanian capital of Tirana. The clashes are reminiscent of previous periods of instability, including the total anarchy the small Balkan country saw in 1997. For a repeat of 1997, however, unrest would have to evolve beyond protests in the capital.
