From grain flows through the Black Sea to strategic competition over advanced semiconductors, supply chain disruptions are often some of the most prominent examples of geopolitical risk to business operations. At the center of these risks sits the global shipping industry, disruptions to which can spread across seemingly unconnected sectors and even geographies. In this episode of the Applied Geopolitics podcast, Rodger Baker, the director of the Stratfor Center for Applied Geopolitics at RANE, speaks with Mr. Punit Oza about some of the ways geopolitical risk impacts the global shipping industry.

Oza is a senior adjunct fellow at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Academy, and he is an affiliated research fellow and guest lecturer at Singapore Management University, where he lectures on geopolitical risks and their impact on shipping and trade flows. Oza has more than 30 years of experience in dry bulk shipping, and he now heads his own company, Maritime NXT, which is focused on developments in the maritime space. He is also a fellow and the vice chair of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
