Six "up-armored" dump trucks and heavy-duty conventional trucks have been found in the past year in mainly Los Zetas-controlled areas in Mexico, five of which were recently found in May and June. The trucks suggest a trend toward a more armored form of warfare in the drug war, but any such trend is only in the beginning stages, and the trucks' tactical worth has not yet been proven. However, the development may lead Mexican law enforcement and rival cartels to acquire equipment to counter the possible threat.
