Five days after Azerbaijan's ruling party took a solid victory in the country's parliamentary elections, the opposition has yet to mobilize significant popular protests against President Ilham Aliyev's government. Furthermore, with Western criticism lackluster and security forces so far not abandoning the president, it appears that any chance for a post-election "velvet revolution" in Azerbaijan has passed.
