Central Asian Gas a Risky Stopgap for Gazprom

In order to put off the need to develop remote gas fields in Russia, an expensive undertaking, Gazprom plans to increase the amount of natural gas it purchases from Central Asian states. This strategy is fraught with risk and can meet Gazprom's needs only for a short time.
