Chad: The EU Peacekeepers' Tense Deployment

EU peacekeepers will begin deploying to eastern Chad on Feb. 12. Facing hostile conditions they did not face as recent as two weeks ago, the Europeans in the French-dominated peacekeeping force are nervous about their deployment to a region where Chadian rebels — and Sudan — do not want them.
