Summary
The Chadian government has said Sudan is backing Chad's Union of Forces for Democracy and Development rebel group, which opposes Chadian President Idriss Deby. Though Sudan called the accusation untrue, Chad and Sudan both back rebel movements in each others' countries. This situation will result in renewed pressure on oil companies operating in southern Chad, and decreased odds of a satisfactory resolution of the crisis in western Sudan's Darfur region.
