Summary
The Chinese have been busy tightening down security in Beijing ahead of the Olympics, but Israeli athletes competing in the games will pose a very specific security challenge. In the past, armed Israeli security agents have accompanied Israeli athletes at the Olympics, specifically to thwart a repeat of the 1972 massacre by the Palestinian Black September Organization during the Munich games. It goes against China's national security interests to allow foreign agents into the country, but in the case of the Israelis during the Olympics, Beijing might have to make an exception.
