China, North Korea: Senior Chinese Diplomat To Visit North Korea

For the first time in two years, China will have official, announced diplomatic contact with North Korea. Chinese state media announced Nov. 15 that Song Tao, a special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, will visit North Korea starting Nov. 17. Song, the head of the Communist Party's external affairs department, will officially travel to North Korea to inform the government there about the results of the 19th Party Congress, which concluded in mid-October. However, given the recent meetings between Xi and U.S. President Donald Trump in which North Korea and its nuclear program took center stage, Song's visit will be important to watch....
