China: Reversing Liberalization Moves

China is considering launching two huge government departments — one for its energy sector and another for its financial sector, Shanghai Security News reported Dec. 27. Rumors of Beijing’s plans to reverse the liberalization of its energy sector have been floating for most of 2007, but this is the first official mention of similar plans for China’s financial sector.
