China's Price Control Moves

China’s National Development and Reform Commission said Jan. 17 that new curbs on food prices will not impact the country’s market-based pricing system. But policymakers’ entrenched interests — not to mention central government fears of letting the market drive prices — suggest Beijing’s latest moves will be easier to dish out than to withdraw.
