Colombia: Uribe in Corner over AUC Disarmament?

Colombia's peace commissioner has warned that disarmament talks with the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia are at risk of collapse because paramilitary leaders refuse to concentrate their forces in one area encircled by the army. The official's remarks reflect an effort by President Alvaro Uribe Velez to extricate himself from negotiations with a group that made demands he knew he could never meet.
