Today, no country is entirely homogeneous or isolated as an ethno-religious entity.

Democratic principles that pledge equality, the rule of law and the protection of human rights enable individuals with different backgrounds to have equal access to and participation in welfare and prosperity. To attain these ideal principles, however, people must accept individuals with different backgrounds as their equals.
