Essential Geopolitics: Cartels Target Mexico's Resort Beaches

Mexico's tourist resorts on the Baja California and Yucatan peninsulas have been long considered safe from the cartel violence that has wracked other parts of the country. That reputation, however, is now in danger: Cartel violence is encroaching. In one shocking incident last November, 15 cartel gunmen arrived by boat outside two luxury resorts in Cancun to target drug dealers on the beach. Two drug dealers were killed and a tourist was wounded during that incident. Blake Laytham, global security analyst at RANE, discusses why this is happening.
