Summary

Hungary on June 4 became the latest European country to announce that it would have to implement measures to curb its budget deficit. Although the Europeans' planned budget cuts vary in severity — Greece's austerity measures are the most extreme — the cuts are expected to give rise to political and social tensions across the board.
