Two economic giants -- the European Union and Japan -- concluded the early stages of a new trade agreement that looks set to break down barriers to car and dairy markets. The agreement is significant mostly for its size: As the world’s second and fourth largest economies, the European Union and Japan together make up a quarter of the global economy. A preliminary compromise unofficially announced July 5 is expected to be followed by a political agreement July 6, when a summit will be held....
