Eurasian Union Proposal Key Aspect of Putin's Expected Presidency

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin wrote an article Oct. 3 articulating his vision of a proposed Eurasian Union, and as of Oct. 6 the article is still garnering attention from political leaders and the media. The union, envisioned as the evolution of the Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Russia, will be an important platform for Russia's continued resurgence in its former Soviet periphery.
