A FARC Leader's Death and Colombia's Upper Hand

Summary

The senior military commander of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) was killed Sept. 22 in a Colombian military operation. Victor Julio Suarez Rojas will be difficult for the FARC to replace, and his death is the latest in a string of successes for Bogota. Moreover, Colombian officials reported that a large amount of intelligence was confiscated from the site of the assault, further strengthening Colombia's position in its operations against the FARC.
