Grading Our 2023 Annual Forecast

For as long as we've been a company, we've been writing forecasts. And for as long as we've been writing forecasts, we've been taking the time to grade them. This year, as I was reading through our 2023 Annual Forecast and taking notes for our scorecard, I kept repeating the opening line of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five in my head: "All this happened, more or less." With apologies to Mr. Vonnegut, this phrase does seem to perfectly sum up how we did. As I remind our analysts and readers every year, we do not grade our forecast as a self-congratulatory exercise, but as a way to continually check our assumptions, improve our processes and be transparent with our clients. ...
