The Iran Protests: A Visual Anthology
Jan 7, 2018 | 16:46 GMT

An Iranian woman raises her fist amid the smoke of tear gas at the University of Tehran during a protest in the capital, Tehran, on Dec. 30, 2017. The dust is beginning to settle from a week of public protests in Iran. The intensity of the demonstrations is slowly dissipating, in part due to lack of clear leadership or a political movement to rally around. Despite the waning political fervor, the economic grievances that spurred the initial unrest will outlast the disorder itself. But solving the economic issues Iran faces is a tall order for the Iranian government, because not all of Iran's economic issues are within the government's control.
