Summary
The Iraqi Cabinet has agreed on a law that would prohibit groups with militias from partaking in the provincial polls to be held in the fall. The law is meant to contain Muqtada al-Sadr's movement in the coming provincial polls and the Sunnis both politically and militarily. It could limit the al-Sadrites' successes, more or less, but in targeting the Sunnis the law will only complicate Iraq's ethno-sectarian strife.
